Task 5: video reflection

Yves Behar: Creating objects that tell stories
The main point of Yves Behar’s talk is central around “Value”, as a designer we should realize what the value of object is, how can we achieve the value of the product. like in the example of lap-top, people in that country is not rich, and low education. Therefore design a computer is necessary; they can get a better opportunity to learn more knowledge from the computer, and the designer use lively color and smooth shape in order to rise children’s interest, which successfully achieved the product’s value.

Therefore every time when we start planning a project, its important to know the value of the object, every object telling a story, and this story maker is the designer, only the time we really understand our aim, and all ways thinking about the value, we can create the good product, even “change the world”.

Task 5: video reflection

Organic Design

Previously I thought to design a good product which looks new, unique, fresh, fashion, you need to put some eye catching colour or complex texture in order to attract people’s attention, however these may get success in the first expression part, as people getting to use the product they may find they are not suitable, therefore a good design may don’t need flashy colour, unique shape, just to be nature, “bring nature process into design process everyday” that’s what I learned from Ross, As a designer we should considering the concept of nature and organic, because nature create the beauty, we feel comfortable in the product made by nature. But how can we make the thing in nature, thats not mean we make funky shape like the bones, we can get the lidea of nature, such like to be environmental,in the Ross's video he designed his car in enviromental way, which have no engine, all comes from solar. In such a way to save our environment, that's a very important concept, what as a industrial design student should be consider about.

Task 5: video reflection

David Kelley: Human centred design
After I watching this video, I was shocked by the magic that designer made, they designed magazine readers, mobile phone, magic hat…especially the part of Parada’s dressing room, designers put lots of high technology things into it, such like the liquid-crystal glass, magic mirror, all of that inventions bring so much convenient to our life, and I think that what is design for, designing things to help life become more easier, we designed the mobile to help us finding people, we designed airplane to make the journey shorter...and in the Dilbert’s dream cube, I realize designing is also for people to have a high leading standard, to adding color into this world. Therefore, the fashion designer was appeared, furniture designer also appear...however designing also can help other people, leading the whole society develop.
But how can we be a good designer? Apart from learning design knowledge, I think you have to be interested in designing, a good designer is belong to people who have full of passion, like the part “Dilbert’s dream cube” in the video, people went crazy when we were doing there designing.
As a industrial design student, the product we are going to design, should be considered why are we design for, how does the product benefit people, because all the products that we made is centre around human being.

Task 1: Shape of a scent.

The first time I smelled this scent, gave me a strong feeling of freshness, nature, serenity, feel like a elegant lady sitting on the chair and having a cup of tea on the afternoon, its a very relaxing calm enviroment, but since the scent bit spread out, the smell became more lighter and bit sweet, I changed my mind, it should belong to younger generation, which is optimistic and fresh. therefore I choose the abstract shape of flower blossom, and the watter dropping to convey the calm, nature mood. and the whole scent have no strong smelling, which I think the shape of the object should not have edges, should more like curly, smooth looking, therefore i used the lines rolling around the object to show it, unfortunately it looks bit wrinkle.
